Types, Duration and Size of Grants

The foundation offers planning, program/project and capacity building grants.  Additionally, and only by invitation, the foundation provides negotiated operating support and capital equipment grants.

Most grants awarded are for twelve months or less.  However, the board of directors recognizes that the duration of planned activities can transcend more than twelve months to achieve scale and financial stability.  In those instances, the board will consider requests for a renewal grant.

The foundation has no criteria regarding the amount of grant funds an applicant may request.  However, the foundation generally limits its support in proportion to the organization’s overall annual budget, the nature and scope of a particular project or program and the availability of grant funds.

Applicants seeking capacity building grants must include a self-assessment that has been completed within the past twelve months. (Use the Core Capacity Assessment Tool, CCAT, or other preapproved tool.)

The foundation will consider requests for grant support while another grant remains open.
