to Non-Profit Organizations at MCCC
Feb. 1, 2007, Blue Bell, Pa.—The Brendlinger Library at Montgomery
County Community College in Blue Bell is pleased to partner with the North
Penn Community Health Foundation (NPCHF) to become a Cooperating Collection
of the national Foundation Center, serving as a grant resource for area non-profit
organizations. The Collection at the College is the first in Montgomery County
and is one of only two located at Pennsylvania community colleges. The center
is available for use by the community and is open Monday through Thursday
from 7:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.;
and Sunday 1-5 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters.
The Cooperating Collection at the College offers a collection of books, publications,
databases and a variety of supplementary materials and services to provide
non-profit organizations with resources for researching and writing grants.
In addition to a small core collection of resources provided by the Foundation
Center, grant money from the NPCHF enabled the College to triple the amount
of printed resources, provide two dedicated computers and provide for the
training of a special collections librarian who is able to assist patrons
with their research. In the future, the librarian will hold periodic classes
designed to help the public become more familiar with the collection and how
to use the resources available.
According to the Council on Foundations, more than $175 million in grants
were provided to nonprofit organizations working in Montgomery County explains
