North Penn Community Health Foundation adds three new members to Board
LANSDALE, PA - The North Penn Community Health Foundation Board
of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of three new community
representatives to join its board of directors.
David Crosson is Executive Director of the Indian Creek Foundation.
Mr. Crosson is a CPA and has worked in the Mental Health field for
most of his career. He currently serves as treasurer of the MAX Group,
an organization for Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Drug and
Alcohol treatment providers in Montgomery County. He serves on the
board of the Greater North Penn Collaborative for Health and Human
Services and is the former Board President of the Indian Valley Opportunity
Council. Mr. Crosson is a resident of Hatfield, PA.
Arthur Chandler is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
of Harleysville Group. He began his career in public accounting earning
his CPA and continuing on to obtain an MBA. He has over twenty five
years of experience leading financial operations of major insurance
organizations. He is active as a coach for CYO Basketball and the Souderton/Harleysville
Youth Basketball Association. Mr. Chandler is a resident of Schwenksville,
PA.
Elizabeth Styer is Executive Director of Child Home and Community.
Ms. Styer is a leader in the field of Maternal and Child Health Issues
and currently services as the Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of
the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action. Ms. Styer’s previous
community service includes: secretary for the Bucks County Mother Baby
Network; representative for La Leche League International to the NGO
Committee of UNICEF; board member of La Leche League International;
and President of the Metropolitan New York Childbirth Education Association.
Ms. Styer is a resident of Telford, PA.
The Board of Directors also noted the exceptional dedication and volunteer
service of its founding chairman, Terrence L. Walton who has served
as Chairman since the Foundation’s inception in January 2002.
Under Mr. Walton’s leadership the Foundation successfully transitioned
operations from the former North Penn Hospital to become a regionally
recognized leader in philanthropy. The Foundation has increased its
asset base to over $44 million and has awarded in excess of $4.4 million
in grant support for the health and human service needs of the community.
New officers were elected to serve two year terms: Phillip N. Hunt,
Chairman, Peter H. Watson, Vice Chairman, Kathleen Fitzgerald, Secretary
and Robert Hafter, Treasurer.
Board members serve without compensation and are required to actively
participate in governance and grantmaking activities. As community
volunteers, board members are expected to be knowledgeable about their
community and willing to participate in meetings, committee work and
with supported organizations.
The Board also announced a change in the title of Russell Johnson
to President, CEO. Mr. Johnson will continue to serve on the Foundation’s
Board of Directors as a non-voting member.
