North Penn Community Health FoundationHonors Volunteers
Russell Johnson, president and CEO of the North Penn Community Health Foundation (foundation) in Colmar, is pleased to recognize four individuals who have played a key role in supporting the foundation through participating in its volunteer program. The one-year invitational program has two goals: 1) to supplement board and staff decision-making with input from a community perspective on the foundation’s grantmaking program and related activities; and 2) to develop broader community awareness of the foundation’s work and its impact on pressing community needs and concerns.
During the past year, Mary Frawley, Gary Loewenstern, Alfredo de la Peña and Georgia Myers provided more than 50 hours of service through the foundation’s volunteer program. They attended board and committee meetings and participated in site visits and related work with the foundation’s grantees. As a tribute to their volunteerism, the foundation awarded a $500 donation to a nonprofit organization each volunteer learned more about through the volunteer program. Frawley chose the Free Health Clinic of Montgomery County (HealthLink), Gary Loewenstern selected The Food Trust, and de la Peña and Myers chose the North Penn Valley Boys and Girls Club for receipt of these gifts.
Founded in 2002, the North Penn Community Health Foundation identifies, selects and invests in programs and agencies that will improve the health, welfare and quality of life in the community. Since its inception, more than $7.7 million has been distributed to nearly 140 nonprofit organizations.
